It's no secret, I'm completely obsessed with romantic comedies from the 80's, and Netflix's "To All the Boys I've Loved Before" brings me all of the vibes. In high school, I wanted so badly to be in love, and this movie is the epitome of everything that I wanted. Honestly, it's the epitome of everything I want now, if only it were that simple.
The movie stars Lana Condor as Lara Jean, Noah Centineo as the high school hearth throb and Israel Broussard as the boy next door.
It (the movie) derives from the book series by Jenny Han, which includes "To All the Boys I've Loved Before", "P.S. I Still Love You", and "Always and Forever, Lara Jean." I never thought to read the books prior to watching the movies but I'm so glad that I'm doing so now. They seem to offer a perspective that is quite different compared to the movie but it doesn't color completely out of the lines.
If you're anything like me, and crave almost any movie starring young Molly Wringwald, I can almost guarantee you'll enjoy this. It channels "16 Candles" vibes and completely steals your heart. Even better, the main role is played by an Asian-American woman. It's such a joy to see more color in movies. I couldn't have chosen a better cast.
FYI, Lara Jean's style is a force to be reconed with.
